A little about my background…
I have a strong background in data analytics and business intelligence, with extensive hands-on experience in Power BI, SQL, Qualtrics, Oracle, and Tableau.
At the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, I led data analysis for the Workforce Division, creating interactive dashboards for senators, congressmembers, and CEOs. These dashboards included visualizations pertaining to funding allocations, employment trends, profitability, and website engagement metrics across Indiana. Much of the data was static, stored in Oracle, Excel, or manually built SQL databases. I frequently worked with time series data, building year-over-year visual comparisons and leveraging Power BI’s dynamic visuals.
In my previous role at Community Health Network, I specialized in employee and patient experience analytics using Qualtrics. While most dashboards were built natively in Qualtrics, I also used Power BI when appropriate for employment-focused reporting. These required advanced DAX, schema design, calculated measures, and custom visualizations tailored to the individual project data and the audience’s data and visualization proficiency. My work supports strategic planning through actionable insights, dynamic reporting, extensive training documents and workshops, and operational visibility.
I’m proficient in Excel, Python, and data cleaning workflows, with regular use of statistical analysis and trend modeling. While my previous team used a waterfall methodology, I have experience in both Agile and Kanban environments and prefer iterative, flexible approaches to analytics delivery.
How I got here…
My father worked in IT and hardware before his death. He used to invite me to help and taught me as much as he could teach an 8 year old. I loved feeling like I was helping solve these important problems people brought to him. When I got into middle school, I chose to take a Game Deisgn class. I fell in love with programming. I took as many Computer Science courses as I could through high school. It was challenging but I didn’t mind, I loved struggling me way to a solution. I learned rather quickly and became a tutor.
I chose to major in Computer Science in college. I had decided my dream was to become a Software Engineer. It was a completely different level than I had experienced in my small high school. Instead of mentoring my peers, I found myself surrounded by people who had parents in Computer Science and had been coding since they were 8. For the first time since I started, I felt behind. So I pushed myself to learn more. I studied on my own whenever I had a chance. I signed up for certification programs and eventually applied for a Data Analytics bootcamp.
I completed the bootcamp while attending college and applied to be a full-time apprentice. While I was accepted and offered a position, it did not work out with my schedule or location. So I took to applying to Data Analyst and Data Engineer roles.
Fall of 2022, I decided to switch my major to Data Science and pursue an accelerated B.S / M.S. I have fallen in love with data and want to use my education and analytical mind to help better the world in any way possible.
I am driven by a desire to better myself and constantly learn more and I will stop at nothing to achieve that.
